Rivka is workshopping a new play, Malicious Animal Magnetism, co-comissioned by American Conservatory Theater’s New Strands Festival and Z Space. The piece is co-written by Dipika Guha and Jeremy Cohen, and directed by Cohen, Producing Artistic Director at the Playwrights’ Center in Minneapolis.
Malicious Animal Magnetism tells the story of: in 1973, amid men in suits, men weeping, and one psychiatrist in a Nixon mask, ten-year-old Peter witnesses a landmark moment in gay rights and reaches out to grab the hand of Oakland boy Deshawn. An epic story about love, queerness, and what we can’t help looking at.
The reading will be Sunday, May 21 at 7 p.m. in the Rueff at A.C.T.’s Strand Theater. Reserve a seat here.
